Count down 12 of the 25 biggest moments from Ontario International Airport in 2025, from new flights to an anniversary campaign to upgrades underway.
‘Tis the season of end-of-year lists, and Ontario International Airport has so much to celebrate from this year!
We managed to narrow it down to 25 highlights from your airport in 2025. Click here to view the first 13 milestones. And here are the final 12 highlights, in no particular order.
14. Nonstop to Capital Takes Off
Southwest Airlines started daily service to Baltimore/Washington D.C. (BWI) in June, giving ONT passengers their first nonstop link to the nation’s capital.
15. Making Waves on Global Stage
ONT attended the Routes World 2025 conference in Hong Kong in September to bring more air service to the Inland Empire. At the conference, they held nearly 30 meetings with airlines and raised our profile through a fun, ONT-branded booth.
16. Anniversary Campaign Takes Flight
We kicked off our year-long Decade of Local Control celebration on November 1st, with fun events already underway (including savings on pre-book parking with the promo code DECADE) and many more planned throughout the year to come.
17. Big Events Get Bigger
Multiple annual OIAA events got bigger and better this year, including our Multi Chamber Mixer, ONT x LAFC Watch Party, AvGeek Tours and award-winning So Cal. So Jolly Fest!
18. Satisfaction Ranking Spikes
We landed the No. 2 spot among all medium-sized airports in North America in the J.D. Power 2025 Airport Satisfaction Study out in September, up from our already-impressive No. 4 ranking for medium hubs last year. Congrats to Indianapolis on snagging the No. 1 spot — and know we’re coming for the title!
19. Tickets Go on Sale for 2026
Alaska Airlines announced it will launch nonstop flights to Boise, Idaho (BOI) in January and flights to Sonoma County (STS) in March, while Southwest started selling tickets for a Honolulu (HNL) flight that will start in June.
20. Grant Means More Upgrades Ahead
The FAA in September awarded ONT a $10.81 million grant to support runway and taxiway upgrades while also adding 24 low-emission energy units to keep aircraft powered on the ground.
21. Putting Students to Work
We invested in our local communities by growing our Ascend internship program, with outreach to new universities helping us add six talented interns to different divisions this summer.
22. Making Travel More Accessible
We hosted Alaska Airlines’ Disability Flight Experience on September 27th to help local families who have loved ones with autism learn to navigate the airport journey. It's part of ONT's ongoing commitment to make flying comfortable for all types of travelers.
23. New Ways to Get ONT News
We relaunched our Inside ONT newsletter in September, with a new look and more information, while also launching ONTo the Next Destination, the official blog of ONT, in October to share useful travel tips and insider ONT knowledge. (But you already knew that one, eh? Thanks for tuning in!)
24. Smoother Arrivals in Store
Crews replaced pavement across all lanes of Airport Drive and installed a new recycled water system for irrigation, ensuring a smoother ride and more sustainable operations for years to come.
25. Records are Made to be Broken
ONT continued shattering year-over-year monthly passenger records for most of 2025, hitting 54 consecutive months of growth in August.
Thanks so much to everyone who chose to fly through your airport this year! And rest assured, we’ve got lots of exciting updates on the horizon for 2026, as we continue living out our mission to boldly seize every opportunity to connect the Inland Empire to the world.
