TSA Expansion

Expanding TSA Security for Faster Screening

Getting from parking to your gate quickly is part of what makes ONT So Cal. So Easy. We're expanding our TSA security area with more screening lanes and new exit corridors to keep wait times low and create a smoother journey for everyone — even as more travelers choose to fly through ONT!

What's Happening & Why

Crews are adding two additional screening lanes in Terminal 2 and one in Terminal 4, to give passengers in both terminals six options to clear security.

Crews are also building new security exit corridors for passengers arriving at ONT. Instead of exiting alongside security lanes, we’re building modern, dedicated corridors that will include some fun features!

Family restrooms near the screening areas are also being upgraded to create easier access for people with disabilities.

Timeline: Work began in March 2025 and will be done over 18 months, with an anticipated completion date in fall 2026. If you're traveling during this construction period, we recommend allowing extra time to clear security.

Benefits: Once this project is complete, passengers can expect even faster wait times at TSA security screening areas. New exit corridors will help relieve crowding in the area and make navigation easier for everyone passing through ONT while offering some fun surprises. And nearby family restrooms will be more accessible.

Plan Ahead

If you're traveling during this construction period, we recommend allowing extra time to clear security. That means padding the two-hour window for domestic travel and three-hour window for international travel a bit more to ensure you make your flight!

Travelers can also consider taking advantage of programs such as TSA PreCheck and CLEAR to help speed up the screening process. You can register for both programs at kiosks located to the left of the escalators in both terminals.

During construction, the family restrooms and the mother’s room near the screening area will be temporarily closed. Passengers are encouraged to use family restrooms on the first floor of the terminals or the general restrooms on the second floor, past the screening area.

Thanks for your patience as these upgrades are underway!
