Why Getting to ONT is Easier Than Getting to Other So Cal Airports

There are greeting cards that joke about how the test of true love is whether someone will drive you to the airport. But if that airport is ONT, you shouldn’t have any trouble convincing even a new flame or casual friend to give you a lift.

ONT is conveniently located at the intersection of the 15, 10 and 60 freeways, with ONT Radio offering tips and updates travelers can listen to on the drive.

Unlike at larger airports, friends and family or ride-share services can pull up to the curb directly in front of each terminal to drop passengers off. And there are rarely long lines or backed-up traffic to get to those curbs.

Travelers driving themselves can choose to use ONT’s valet parking, which offers convenient curbside service. There’s also self-parking in premium lots directly in front of the terminals or self-parking in competitively priced lots that provide free shuttle service to each terminal, with options to save by pre-booking parking anytime plus regular promotions to help passengers save additional money.

There are also many options for bus service, free hotel shuttles and connecting with area train service.

ONT's two terminals are also just a quick walk apart from each other, with an efficient layout that makes it easy for passengers to navigate if they happen to get dropped off or park in the wrong spot.

ONT Self-Parking Options & How to Reserve Your Spot

Ontario International Airport has five parking lots that allow self-parking, with all five located on site. Click here and scroll down to see a map of each lot and proximity to the terminals.

Parking lots 2, 3 and 4 offer general parking, just a short walk away from the terminals. Lot 2 is closest to Terminal 2 and lot 4 is closest to Terminal 4, with each costing $30 per day. Lot 3 is between the two terminals and runs $25 per day.

Parking lots 2 and 4 also offer premium parking directly in front of each terminal for an additional charge. Parking in these lots is $35 per day. These are great options if you're going on a shorter trip or are just looking for convenient access.

Parking lots 5 and 6 are economy lots, priced at $20 per day. They are located a bit further away, though both are still easily walkable for folks flying out of Terminal 4. There’s also free and frequent shuttle service available if you're flying out of Terminal 2 or just want to avoid the walk to T4. Using these lots will keep costs down if you're on a budget or going on a more extended trip.

Reservations aren’t required for any of ONT’s lots, and they’re not available for premium lots. However, it's highly recommended that travelers pre-book parking to guarantee space in general and economy lots. Parking reservations can be made up to two hours before arrival time. Plus, you can save up to 20% on daily parking fees by paying in advance online!

Long-Term Parking at ONT

There’s no specific lot for long-term vs. short-term parking at ONT. You can park in any lot for any length of time, though charges will of course add up faster in lots 2, 3 and 4 — particularly in premium lots.

ONT’s website offers an online Parking Fee Estimator, where travelers can calculate parking rates based on travel dates and different options available.

ONT Self-Parking Rates

Self-parking at ONT ranges from $20 to $35 each day.

The lowest rates apply to economy lots 5 and 6, while the highest rates apply to premium lots 2 and 4, directly in front of each terminal. There are additional options between the two, which get you closer to the terminals for $25 or $30 per day.

Click here to view rates for each lot. And remember, you can save on fees for any of these lots by pre-booking in advance on the website!

Valet parking services are offered out front of both ONT terminals, with both pre-book and drive-up service available.

Valet Parking: The VIP Experience

In a rush? Or just want to be treated like a VIP? Well you’re in luck, because valet parking is back at ONT!

This service was suspended during the height of the pandemic. But with passenger numbers booming, the airport is offering the convenient option again — and at a competitive price!

You can book valet parking in advance through ONT's website, or you can simply pull up to the valet parking booths that sit steps away from each terminal. The service costs $40 a day, with fees due as you leave.

If you pre-book valet parking, you can simply pull up to the valet parking booth along the center curb, out front of each terminal, and provide the attendant with your reservation number or QR code. They’ll take care of the rest!

If you don’t book service in advance, simply pull up to the valet parking booth along the center curb, out front of each terminal for our drive-up service, and the attendant will assist you.

If you opt to provide your flight information before you leave, then valet attendants will automatically be notified when your return flight has landed at ONT. You'll get a text you can reply to, telling attendants you’re on your way, so your car will be ready to go when you are.

Otherwise, just visit the valet booth for service when you return.

For Handicap Parking, EV Charging & Motorcycles

Handicap parking is available in all ONT parking lots. If you have distinguishing placards or special license plates issued for persons with disabilities, then you’ll be able to park in special accessible spaces within each parking lot. Note: Accessible spaces cannot be reserved.

Free electric vehicle charging stations are at the south side of Lots 2 and 4. Parking fees for those lots apply.

Motorcycles can park in Lots 2 and 4 for free! Motorcyclists:

  • Don't take a ticket. Instead, drive around the gate arm.
  • Park in hashed areas near the end of rows.
  • Don't park in a standard parking space.
  • Drive around the gate arm again when exiting.

Other Transportation Options to ONT

Don’t feel like driving to the airport? There are several transportation options available for travelers who won’t be parking a vehicle at Ontario International Airport.

Ride-Share Services (Uber, Lyft & More) & Taxis

“Took Uber today from ONT and it was easy and quick! Pickup location is actually at the passenger drop-off curve.”

That’s feedback from one Yelper on using ride-share services at ONT.

Lyft, Opoli, Uber and Wingz all are permitted to operate at Ontario International Airport. These services can drop you off and pick you up curbside, directly in front of your terminal.

Rates of course can vary greatly depending on your destination, the time of day and anticipated traffic, with surge pricing during peak times. But here are estimated prices for three popular destinations:

  • To Downtown Ontario: $15-$20
  • To Riverside: $30-$35
  • To Los Angeles: $80-$100

Taxis are also available at the taxi ranks in front of every terminal, on the outer island.

Ontario International Airport only partners with one taxi company: Bell Cab. Their dispatch line is 909-884-1111.

Drop-Off & Pick-Up Zones

Catching a ride with a family member or friend instead? Cars can pull right up to the curb in front of each terminal to drop passengers off or pick them up!

Waiting curbside isn’t allowed. But ONT has a free Cell Phone Waiting lot visitors can use while they’re waiting for travelers to land or collect baggage. The Cell Phone Lot is located at 3350 John Bangs Drive, just a short distance from the airport. Cars can wait there for up to one hour, with 35 spaces and three ADA spaces available.

Parking lots 2 and 4 also offer options for hourly parking rates for visitors who want to wait even closer to the terminals. Rates are charged by the hour up to two hours in the premium lots and up to four hours in the general lots. (Pro tip: All ONT lots give you a 15-minute grace period before charges apply, if you just need to pull in for a brief wait!)

Public Transportation & Shuttle Services

Want to avoid the stress of driving altogether and do something good for the planet? Consider using a shuttle service or public transportation!

More than a dozen area hotels and motels offer courtesy shuttle service for guests traveling to and from Ontario International Airport. It's recommended that you make transportation arrangements with your hotel or motel 72 hours in advance of your trip.

OmniTrans also offers bus service to ONT, with a stop at the airport every 15 minutes on weekdays and every 30 minutes on weekends along its Route 61. Click here for the full schedule and details of that route.

Other bus companies throughout Southern California also serve ONT by connecting to OmniTrans or other transportation lines, from Greyhound to the Riverside Transit Agency to the Orange County Transportation Authority. Click here for a list of services and contact information.

OmniTrans also runs a free ONT Connect shuttle between the Metrolink station in Rancho Cucamonga and Ontario International Airport.

There are plans in the works to add even more options for public transportation that connects to ONT, including the emissions-free West Valley Connector project. While that construction takes place, OmniTrans riders can click here to get a free two-day pass to ride Route 61 to ONT!
